To mark the future direction of the company, several key promotions have come into fruition, Mr. James Morley ATT becomes Business Development Director, Mr. Mark Hancock Group Finance Director, Mr. Chris Ward Professional Relations Director, and Mr. Stevie Gill Tax consultant/tax services director designate.

James Morley commented “today marks the conclusion of a process that David started during the pandemic as it was always intended we would take a break on reaching his 60th birthday, this had of course to be postponed for a year because of the crisis, and clients can be assured that it is business as usual at Cornerstone. David has been working reduced hours for some time now and we wish him and his family well.”

During his tenure Cornerstone has highlighted many issues in SDLT particularly the anomaly in multiple dwellings relief, the pensions stamp duty scandal, the problem with mixed-use properties, and a number of other related issues. He has contributed to a number of professional journals, textbooks, and was for a number of years the SDLT lecturer for Central Law Training.

Since Stamp Duty Land Tax was first introduced in 2003, David Hannah has been the UK’s leading adviser.
